CAPITAL FOR THE COSTA DEL SOL



Malaga is the capital of the Costa del Sol and the sixth largest city in Spain it has some 600,000 inhabitants and measures 160 km from east to west. It is situated approximately 100km from Gibraltar. Santa Ana Abbey Bernardine Cistercian Recoletas

Cistercian Museum
• Pedro de Mena y Medrano, artist of the Baroque period settled in Malaga was a sculptor relevant, the attractiveness of the Abbey indisputable monument is the union of both. One room has about 300 exhibitions of sacred art, covering periods ranging from s. S. XVI XX.
Located in the historic center of town the old Abbey, dating from 1067 in the Convent of Jesus and Mary in San Juan street next to the parish of the same name. In its various rooms can enjoy the art through history;

-In Room 1 "Cister and History," presents pictorial pieces were preserved in the same Abbey.
-Room 2 presents "Images of the Baroque" hosts a variety of pictorial sculpture and metal silverware, engravings also has samples of textile paintings, embroidery and documents.
-Room 3 of such rapid-to "Intimacy and Close" calls attention to the large collection of miniature statues and altar, Births and domestic canopies. It also houses a large collection of sculpture composed of parts and eighteenth seiscentista.
-Room 4 "Dream of Life and Death" great mystic who shows us the contrast of the delicate child against the drama of the Passion Children.

Archaeological Museum of La Alcazaba
• The museum offers an educational tour about the importance of ceramics has been to Malaga in times of the Muslim era and its survival until today, explained in seven teaching units. Exposed pieces found in excavations in the town, reproductions of original pieces, and some utensils and tools for the production of ceramics.
